For those of you who are living in Singapore, you will be familiar with this Anti-Gambling TVC

and this little girl from the TVC

From the video, the mole on the little girl face can be seen much clearer and since Elyssa has a mole on her left cheek like the little girl, we have been teasing her that she was the little girl in the TVC since it was aired and Elyssa was not only fine with our teasing, she up the challenge herself by asking me to let her posed with her piggy bank just like the TVC and here goes the Anti-Gambling ad (Elyssa version)

~~ It made me laugh everytime I see this pic, she really tried hard to pose exactly like the little girl in the TVC ~~

Double Eyelids, Double Trouble?

After spotting the 3rd mole on appearing out of no where on Evangeline left cheek, we realised that she suddenly has double eyelids but only on her right eye ..

She was complaining that her eyes were very itchy and she kept rubbing and rubbing and this was the after effect of her vigorous rubbing .. we thought it would go away after we applied the doctor medication for her but seems like it is here to stay .. keeping my fingers crossed that the other double eyelid faster appear on her left eye too .. if not so unbalanced ..

A Trip To Ikea

Ikea has always been one of my favourite place for shopping .. and as there are quite a few interesting Christmas in-store activities there this year .. we decided to make a trip there with the kiddos :) especially for the face painting but too bad, we spent almost 3 hours there but we only saw the cooking demonstration and a small corner set up for kiddos craft activity .. no face painter could be seen .. neither did we see any Santa or Elves as stated here ..

Here are some of the pics that I took of our food .. I am rather disappointed with the food that was actually being served that day .. it was a total difference from what was being printed in the brochure ..see it for yourselves here (Pg 14-15/16) ..

This morning, the whole family was up bright and early as we have to be at Nex Mall latest by 10am for our planned agenda for the day *winks* ..

Lucky for us, we managed to catch a cab soon enough after we left home and we managed to reach Nex Mall 'early' enough for us to catch a bite of Breakfast ..

I have sort of "made up" my mind that I would wanna bring the kiddos to watch this movie when I first saw its trailer on You Tube all before its appearance on our local TV and once the kiddos saw the trailer on You Tube, they were hooked .. plus the attractive posters was totally captivating and impossible not to like (excuses .. excuses ..tsk .. tsk..)

All of us enjoyed the movie and we took a tour of Nex Mall after the movie and boy was it crowded even though it was a week day afternoon .. I can't imagine coming here on a weekend ..

As all the F & B places were choked full of people, we had a hard time finding seats for 5 persons and food suitable for 5 different palates .. and true enough, we found ourselves turning to the easiest solution - fast food and lucky us, we managed to find a restaurant that was not full of people ..

I spotted a very nicely decorated Christmas Tree outside one of the restaurant when we were making our way out of Nex Mall and I got the kiddos to quickly posed for a pic with it ..

It was definitely a very fruitful and eye-opening trip today although we were rather disappointed that the sky park with its wet and dry playground were still under construction but we will definitely be back again .. it was especially fruitful too for the kiddos who came not only got to watch the movie that they wanted to .. they also came home with these ..

~~ These VCDs were buy 3, get 1 free and the individual price is rather affordable so Daddy decided to buy them for the kiddos ~~

I had anticipated all year long for 1 Dec 2010 to come ever since this post ..

I had planned to to go visit my dad at the hospital in the morning before making our way to Vivo City in the evening .. but things did not go as what I have planned ..

The house phone ranged at about 6.30am .. not a good sign .. before I even picked up the phone .. I already know what's coming .. just as I expected, Mum was on the other end and she told me, Dad had passed away at the hospital this morning .. and so a rushy and surreal day began for me .. everything was happening so fast after I reached the hospital and began making arrangements for Dad's wake .. it still seems like a dream to me now .. at times, I still do not believe that Dad has left us, just like that ..

So instead of Vivo City, the kiddos spent the night at Bedok where Dad's wake is being held .. lucky for me, they did not asked too much about the fireworks which they have been anticipating for weeks .. I had a rather hard time explaining to them that Ah Gong (my Dad) has passed away and answering their innocent and very funny questions .. the following are 2 questions that left the deepest impression on me ..

Mummy, where is Ah Gong? Why is he lying inside the cupboard (coffin)?

Why do we have to "pai pai" (pray), after "pai pai" Ah Gong will stand up?

Outing (Hospital Visit, Thai Food Tasting & Animal Learning Journey)

It is with a heavy heart that I am typing this post .. My dad had passed away on 1 Dec 2010 ..

The reason for going into detail of my father's illness in this post is so that the kiddos would understand what happened to their Ah Gong when they read this post in future ..

My father had been diagnosed with Lung Cancer earlier this year and as his condition was in the advanced stage, he opted out of treatment and as time passed, his condition begins to deteriorate and he began going in and out of hospital before he had to be warded "permanently" as he was too weak to move around by himself and need constant supply of oxygen to help him breathe ..

Mum and myself made a painful decision to ward my dad at Bright Vision Hospital since 22 Nov 2010 for Pallative Care as we were unable to care for him at home ..

I can tell that Dad is unhappy there at the hospital as he wish to be back home .. I also noticed that he had started displaying symptoms being described when people are nearing death .. so we brought the kiddos to visit him just in case anything happens ..

Dad was asleep when we reached and he seems to be in deep sleep as he did not hear me when I leaned closer to call him .. he woke up after a while and for the first time since he was warded, I saw joy in his eyes when he saw the kiddos are there in the ward to visit him ..

We bought food for him but instead of eating it first, he asked the kiddos to come forward so that he could feed them the food and the whole atmosphere seems to lighten up in the ward when the kiddos start to interact with my dad, talking to him and stroking him as he do the same actions to them too .. it was a touching yet heart wrenching moment for me ..

After staying for a while, we left for lunch as Dad was slipping into slumber again so we say good bye to him and left him to rest .. (never did it crossed my mind that it would be the last time all of us saw him)

We first went to Sakon Thai earlier this month (see this post) .. as we were in the vicinity, we decided to pop over with the kiddos for lunch and also to see how they would adapt to Thai food ..

It is getting chilly at night with the rain coming more frequently this month and thus I decided that its time to bring out the jackets and let the kiddos wear them to bed as it tends to get chilly in the early dawn even thought we closed their room windows and let them sleep with only the fan on ..

By the way, Princesses seem to have mastered the art of using chopsticks on their own, we have not trained them in any way nor gave them any practice session ..

Last Day Of School

Today marks the last day of school for the kiddos .. times flies .. I can still remember the first day that Princesses embarked on their journey in Nursery ..

In January this year, I was still complaining about how tedious it is to bring all the kiddos to school during rainy days and how the harsh sun rays has turn me into a uneven skin tone monster and now .. in almost a blink of an eye, it's reaching the end of Year 2010 ..

Today, Princesses school had a party to celebrate the last day of school and Princesses had a fun time at school today as they get to play with water guns .. water play is always a hot favourite with kids .. too bad, I was not around when they were having fun with their water guns ..

I got Princesses to have a pic taken with their Teacher Serene before we went home ..

Teacher Serene also gave each children a letter to bring home and this was what was written

Personally, I feel that this is a very simple but heart warming gesture from Teacher Serene .. not all teachers would be bothered to write letters to the Parents or Guardian since it is already the last day of schoo * smiles *

I am so PISSED OFF with Issac teachers ..

After reading this post, you may find that I am making a fuss out of nothing .. I do admit that it is not a very major or serious issue which will have very drastic consequences on everybody but I just DO NOT FEEL GOOD about this whole matter ..

The story is like this .. almost every year .. the school where my Princesses and Prince went to (for their Playgroup session) would organised a Graduation Ceremony for the children in the school towards the year end .. like the one in this post (Princesses performance in their Graduation Ceremony)

Last week, I noticed one of the teachers in charge asking and selling tickets to other parents for this year Graduation Ceremony and I was puzzled why I was not being told about it or asked if we have any intention to join them .. and I overheard that the Graduation Ceremony would be held coming Saturday 13 November 2010 as for the venue, I do not know as nobody told me anything at all ..

And so I thought to myself that maybe the teacher got no time to tell me when I sent Issac off for school as we were always late and rushing for time ... but when I went to pick Issac up from school .. still none of the teachers told me anything .. no excuses for not being able to ask me as Issac will always be the last one to 'hang' in school as I would pick up Princesses from school first before we went to fetch Issac from school ..

And now, best thing, tomorrow is the Graduation Ceremony and just now some of the children in Issac class were trying on the clothing that they were supposed to wear for tomorrow and still the teacher act 'blur' and never tell me anything ..

My poor boy still very innocently tell me that he want to wear the yellow clothes (the clothes that his friends were trying on) and when I told him that he will not be wearing them .. he asked me why with a very sad face .. I do not know how to tell him so I just told him that teacher never prepare his share of clothes and lucky for both of us, he seem to accept this explanation ..

I am not angry with the fact that Issac did not get a chance to be involved in this year Graduation Ceremony ..

I am just upset that is Issac not a student of this school? Is he studying for free? Hey, we paid school fees every month alright? How come Issac is being out cast just like that .. even when the teachers have every opportunity to tell me about this Graduation Ceremony thing

Hey .. it's alright if you feel that after this incident, my boy is a cry baby and may spoil your performance at the coming Graduation Ceremony .. tell me straight to my face that he would not be selected for the performance and not act like we do not exist or like we are some kind of idiot that do not know what is happening ..

I have decided that since the teachers wanna play dumb I will play dumb with them too anyway since there is only 4 days of school left for Year 2010 ..

Education Vs Mum's Me Time

Once the kiddos were off to school daily .. Me Time begin for me ..

I can eat my lunch, surf net, read, see tv, chat on the phone, stare blankly, sleep, go to the toilet, cook or do nothing IN PEACE .. pure beautiful golden silence ..

If you ever had the chance to come to my house when the kiddos are playing (or fighting) with their maximum potential, you will know how bad the noise is .. (I'm staying in the 2nd last unit at the end of the corridor but you can hear the kids shouting when you get out of the lift .. that's how loud they can be)

Much as I love my kiddos, I do value my Me Time alot ..that's when I have the chance to catch my breath and steady myself so that I can carry on with the rest of the day challenges *winks*

He Sure Has A Liking For Hot Stuff

I first noticed that Issac has a liking for hot spicy food when he was twenty seven months old ..

He started bugging me to let him taste my vegetarian mee hoon which was very generously doused with the gravy of the curry vegetables .. next he started to attack our curry puffs and he took more than one bite before he found it too hot for him ..

Now at 3 Year 2 Month old, he recently developed another new type of craving .. a craving for Hae Bee Hiam or Spicy Fried Shrimp Sambal like the one in the pic below ..

He will take big mouthful of the Hae Bee Hiam before glurping big mouthful of drink to put out the fire in his mouth and this process would repeat himself for a few times til he decided that he have had enough thrill for the day *faint*

The kiddos were met with a pleasant surprise when they reached home from school yesterday ..

I bought water guns for the 3 of them as Princesses teacher has intention to organise a Water Gun party on the last day of school next week and I wanted Princesses to have their own Water Gun too so that they can join in the fun and shoot others back rather then playing the victims and get shoot ..

The kiddos were so happy to see their surprise presents and so eager to try it out before they even change out of their uniform ..

Deepavali (also: Depawali, Dipavali, Dewali, Diwali, Divali, Dipotsavi, Dipapratipad ) marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year according to the Lunar Calendar. It literally translated means 'Row of Lights' (from Sanskrit: dipa = lamp / awali = row, line).

It celebrates the victory of goodness over evil, light over darkness, and ushers in the new year. For this event people are cleaning their houses and wear new clothes.

Diwali is a 5 days festival as Dhanteras, Choti Diwali, Badi (Main) Diwali, Padwa and Bhaiduj. There are many different names for the days of Diwali in different regions of India (South & North India, East & West India) and in the different languages spoken in that regions (i.e. Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Bengali).

During Deepavali people pray to Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth, light, prosperty and wisdom, but also to Lord Ganesha, the 'Remover of Obstacles' or the 'Lord of Beginnings'.

This year Deepavali falls on 5 Nov 2010 which is tomorrow and today Princesses came home with a small bag of Deepavali goodies given by their classmates ..

Among the 3 kiddos, Evangeline seems to have a special liking for the traditional Indian snacks .. Elyssa and Issac found the green coloured candy like snack too sweet (I do not know the name of this snack) but Evangeline like it so much that she ate Elyssa share too ..

So this morning, I used the remaining part of the Lotus Root or 莲藕 that I especially save aside for cooking this dessert cum snack ..

~~ The Lotus Root or 莲藕 , Honey Dates or 蜜枣 and Almond or 南北杏 inside my slow cooker .. I added in Pandan Leaves for their fragrance (After cooking, I scooped and drained the lotus root cubes .. set them aside as snack while I served the liquid as drinks) ~~

Out of the 3 kiddos, Evangeline has a neutral take to this snack .. she eat it but without any particular interest .. Issac reject it as usual while Elyssa enjoyed it so much that she finished almost all of the Lotus Root snack by herself and is still asking for more ..

After our lunch, we went to do our marketing .. As today is Halloween day, there was free hand or face painting for everybody at NTUC Xtra at Hougang Festival Market .. Evangeline was initially rather hesitant to go forward and get her hand painted but with some encouragement, she did and here she is, showing off her nicely painted butterfly on her arm ..

Mom #2

A tired mom is…tired.

A tired mom floats from one task to another, never getting much finished.

A tired mom wastes time…being tired and pseudo resting (i.e. tv, internet, magazine reading).

A tired mom is grumpy.

Imagine…
Now, imagine with me that you’re 5 years old. You’re SOOOO excited to play with your new doll and you want to have a tea party complete with stuffed animal guests and real. water. tea. And paper sugar cubes even! But it would be ever so much more funner if Mama would play with you and use her fancy accent and pretend to be Lady Fancy Schmancy and drink with her little pinky up like she sometimes does and… and…

So you run to fill the tea pot and ask Mommy.

“Mama!! Mama!! We’re having a tea party with real. water. tea!!!… and my animal friends said it wouldn’t be the same without Lady Fancy Schmancy and…”

WHOOPS!!! You trip and spill the water all over the wood floors.

In that moment, which mom would you want?

Choose Your Own Mom…

Well rested mom (in full Lady Fancy Schmancy accent): “Looooks liyke we’ve had a smawl spill. Let’s get mowre tea, shall we?”

Tired mom: “Ugh!! Again? You have GOT to be more careful! I can’t play with you now, I need to clean this mess up.”

Rest is a simple thing can do to radically improve her attitude, health and perspective.

Granted there are seasons of sleep deprivation, but if we’re reading blogs or watching tv, we have time to get more rest.

Rest is more important than relaxation. And the more rest we get, the less relaxation we need.

I Realize It’s Not Easy

I know it might seem like a sacrifice to go to bed earlier. To give up a favorite TV show or catching up via Facebook with our 3rd grade #4 best friend that we had actually forgotten about until she sent that friend request and then Oh. My. Goodness!!! It’s So. Good. To. Catch. Up. With. You!!!

A Classic Example For The Ages

Really? That’s more important than rest? I’ve done it just as much as anyone. In fact, one time I stayed up WAY too late examining the facial expression of Faith Hill to see if she really was mad that Carrie Underwood won the CMT award.

Seriously. I watched the YouTube videos, read the comments and performed my own behavioral profile based upon my research. Or something like that.

And I don’t even listen to country music!

I was not the most amazing mom the next day. Thanks Faith.

I Double Dog Dare You

So my challenge to you is to determine how much sleep you really need to be your best.

Because our kids…they deserve our best.

The power of the sibling relationship is often over-shadowed by the value we place on building good parent-child relationships, friendships and marital relationships. The fact is that no bond is typically longer, stronger or more comforting than that between siblings.

As parents, it is easy to focus on the day-to-day bickering, conflict or rivalry, and loose sight of the tremendous long-lasting impact that sibling relationships have on our children. Here are a few reminders (based on research) why we should continue to honor and foster loving relationships between our children:

The Role of Sibling Relationships on Development

Because brothers and sisters typically spend a lot of time together, they are one another’s first playmates and companions. As a result, sibling relationships influence both social and cognitive learning:

:: Older children serve as effective role models and teachers: Older children, despite the age difference, always serve as role models and teachers in a variety of pro-social skills, such as helping, sharing, and cooperation. Language development and communication is also influenced by the presence of older siblings.

:: The impact of the sibling relationship extends beyond the home: The social skills children learn from their siblings can actually impact interactions with peers at school or in the playground. Negative and hostile sibling relationships have been linked to aggressive behaviors with peers during adolescence.

:: A moderate amount of sibling conflict is actually good(!): If you’re worried that your kids bicker a bit much, worry no more. Surprisingly, a moderate amount of sibling conflict enhances social interactions with peers. Moderate conflict, balanced with warmth or support between siblings, is associated with higher social competence, emotional control, and better school adjustment.

Factors that Influence Quality of Relationship Between Siblings

A multitude of factors influence the quality of sibling relationships. If you have more than two children, however, you might have noticed the role of gender, temperament, age spacing and birth order. There are other important factors that impact the bond between your children. Here are some:

:: Parenting behaviors: Negative parenting practices (bribing, hitting, spanking) and inadequate parental monitoring are associated with negative sibling interactions.

:: Marital satisfaction and family emotional climate: When mom and dad are not happy, or are experiencing emotional conflict, the interactions between siblings is affected. Children who grow up in a conflicted family environment tend to exhibit more sibling rivalry, aggression and avoidance.

:: Emotionally unfulfilling or unavailable parental care: Children who grow up with emotionally unfulfilling parental care do one of two things: they either bond more intensely, or become hostile with one another.

:: Preferential treatment of a sibling over another: Real (and even perceived) preferential treatment appears to affect how siblings get along with one another. Children who feel less attended to begin to feel resentful, upset and angry with their parents, and are likely to displace much of that anger towards the sibling who is receiving the parent’s attention.

Fostering a Loving Sibling Relationship

So what are some important and practical things we can do to promote a loving, close and respectful relationship between our children? Here are some tips:

:: Role model affection. As with anything else, we are our children’s biggest role models. Show affection in your relationship with your spouse, your children, and your own siblings. Hugs, kisses and loving comments are excellent forms of affection that children can easily imitate when they feel positive feelings towards their siblings.

:: Encourage polite behaviors among siblings. Being polite and appreciative are behaviors we highly value at home. Saying “thank you,” “please,” and communicating with politeness honors the type of respect that siblings should show one another.

:: Promote a sense of responsibility for one another. At home, we try our best to make each child aware of their siblings’ needs, and encourage them to be caring and helpful. Our 4 year old is very sensitive to our 2 year old needs, and she’s often found using mommy talk with him, in a very loving way. This can set the foundation for a close bond between siblings as adults.

:: Educate and remind your children about the limitations of younger siblings. Regardless of the age difference, developmental differences are bound to cause conflict and bickering between siblings. It is important to help children understand why their younger siblings are not able to exercise impulse control, or express their needs clearly. Remind your children of the stage their siblings are in, and how that impacts what they can and cannot do.

:: Give your children plenty of opportunities to do fun and memorable things together. My fondest memories with my sister took place during fun trips to the beach, family celebrations, and playing together. Today, at home, we try to create opportunities for our children to engage in activities in pairs (we have 4 children) and as a group. There is a qualitative difference between both experiences, especially depending on the age differences.

:: Remind yourself that the bickering and rivalry will soon pass. As with temper tantrums, the rivalry and conflict is part of normal development (as long as it doesn’t escalate to aggression and hostility). These are stages in our children’s lives. Soon, you’ll notice their relationship evolve and transform. In the interim, patience, tolerance and the ability to let them figure it out will prove to be quite helpful.

This is the life of a mom.

It’s full of teeny tiny little events, activities and chores that fill up a day even before it starts. Most of these things seem insignificant, mundane and usually never-ending. We fill up our days with wiping counters, finding lost shoes and reading bedtime stories. In between breaths and during naps, we check email, update our Facebook and maybe even grab a cup of coffee.

But what about the important things of our day?

What about the big events? The big projects? The big priorities? Big rocks like: reading to your kids every day, being attentive to your husband, spending quiet time with your Bible or keeping your body healthy with food and exercise? Will they fit into our lives when we are overrun with all the little things?

Hardly.

In fact, as mothers we generally spend more time focused on others—school schedules, husband’s work and kids’ activities. And our big priorities? Our big rocks? An afterthought. An I-hope-this-happens-one-day.

But what would happen if you put those rocks in first?

What if you got up early and read your Bible? What if you stopped fretting about spotless floors and spent time playing ball with your kids? What if you shut the computer during breakfast and talked about your kids’ day? What would happen to all those little things that “have to” get done?

They’d fall into place. You’d have room to spare.

My pastor, Andy Stanley says, “Priority determines capacity.” I know, as a mom, I don’t have time for time management! But I do have time for priorities. I do have time to do the important. I do have time to focus on the good, big, significant things.

For me? My big rocks? Emptying the dishwasher before breakfast is done. Being awake enough to spend an hour or two paying attention to my husband before I fall into bed. Reading my Bible before the kids wake up. Taking a shower and getting dressed before breakfast.

And when I do those things, I find myself empowered to tackle more big rocks while still fitting in as many of the little rocks (Facebook, blogging, girls’ nights out and wandering through Target) as I want.

Spend a few minutes today identifying your big rocks. Then start putting them into your life’s jar first. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see your life’s capacity expand!

After reading the above article, I think my big rocks are to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier so that I have some time for a leisure breakfast, some simple stretches and a BIG MUST - SHOWER before I kick start the day with never ending chores and rushing around with the kiddos .. not forgetting time to read to the kiddos and time chit chatting with hubby ..

That I can't even turn my back nor my eyes off the kiddos for even 5 mins..

Scenario: The kiddos were in the kitchen, asked them to go pass urine and wash their hands (as they were writing with markers) before they proceed for their afternoon nap .. I took a bottle of hand soap from the store room and had just put the bottle of hand soap in my master bedroom toilet when I heard Elyssa shouting ..

"Mummy, Evangeline got all the blood come out already .. "

My heart sank .. now what .. Blood .. not a good word .. just pray hard that no tooth gets knock out .. not an injury that I can't settle by myself .. oh god, why do this kind of things always happen when I'm the only adult at home ..

Went to the kitchen toilet and this was what I saw .. blood (a familiar sight to me by now) all over Evangeline face that I had problem identifying the source of the injury .. nose? lips? tooth? (hopefully not) .. I tried to be calm so that I do not make Evangeline even more scare than what she already is but I was really shaking inside .. I told her to wash off all the blood first before I check on her ..

It seems that she fell in the toilet face down and she told me that she slipped on the NON-SLIP mat .. how ironic right .. when the mat is supposed to prevent us from falling .. anyway, we have thrown away the mat ..

Because of the fact that the kiddos always seem to get into all sort of injuries while at home, last year or so .. (could not remember the exact date) I got hubby to buy me a book on First Aid so that I can be prepared and know how to react and treat simple injuries ..

Before I read this book, I have been taught by the elders in my family that when my nose bleed, I'm supposed to tilt my head or lie down and rest but accordingly to what the book said, we are not to tilt our head back as the blood might flow down the throat and induce vomiting ..

I noticed recently that Issac seems to like playing with his eyes - making the look of cross eye also known as Strabismus ..

This was a pic taken one month ago with him posing in the same manner but look how different the eyes looks ..

His cross eye looks even more obvious in the video below .. Issac do not like us to look at his eyes .. he seems to know that there is a problem with his eyes and when we ask him to look properly, he would feel sad and gave us the sad and unhappy expression ..

Separation Anxiety?

I really do not know what is wrong with Issac nowadays .. Bringing him to school is a big CHALLENGE every day ..

After he recovered from his sickness and went back to school after one week of MC, he have been crying everyday .. is this Separation Anxiety?

I have tried every method that I know from coaxing him with treats if he went to school without crying, letting him bring along a sweet or a pack of biscuit to school, telling and assuring him that I will be there to pick him up after his school to scolding him when I feel like banging my head against the wall when I have tried everything and he can promised to be a good boy and not cry when we are at home and even on the way to school but once we reaches the school, his face would change and his inner koala self would appear and he would cling on to me like his teacher is trying to do something terrible to him .. worst, the more we ask him not to cry, he would cry louder .. simply beyond pacifying ..

To illustrate, see the pics below .. taken on Tuesday when he was supposed to take his Graduation Photo .. (Karen and Cynthia would know the story and why I was so mad at him that I pull him off the chair where he was sitting for the taking of the Group Pic)

I do agree when I look at the pic days later that he does look cute and comical at the same time in the pic but trust me, if you were there and had to pacify him so that the photos can be taken ..

IT IS SIMPLY NOT CUTE ..

I'm seriously wondering is this crying during Graduation Photo Taking thingy got anything to do with Heredity ..

Princesses also cried during their Graduation Photo taking but luckily their photo still turn out ok see here .. hopefully Issac photo turn out ok too * keeping fingers crossed*

Parents may find it difficult to teach children the value of gratitude but knowing how this virtue would help mold a good child, everything would come with ease.

• Be appreciative. Thankful children are those that come from grateful parents. Tell your children how grateful you are for having them. Show them how you appreciate them as blessings and that taking care of these blessings would show your appreciation

• Mirror gratitude. When children see their parents grateful of what they have, they learn the same thing. Show your children how good your job is and that the world is not a sphere of misery because it was created with everything good.

• Never demand thanks. Being grateful is not forced. Let the child understand the positive effects of something done by others in order for him to appreciate it. If he realizes the good act in the end, gratitude would come voluntarily.

• Consider your child’s reasons for not being thankful. Irritability, hunger, and sleepiness would not bring out an appreciative attitude. Try to solve the problem as you deal correctly with the reasons causing it. When the child begins to be in a healthy and normal situation again, saying thank you would be very easy.

• Let your child participate in activities that will make him appreciated. The fulfilling feeling off being thanked for a little help would encourage the child to do more good things.

• Encourage generosity. Tell children how other people in some parts of the world are less fortunate than they are. Encourage them to share their old toys and clothes and let them participate in the act of giving.

• Be a patient reminder. There will be instances when too much happiness for something would let your child forget to say thank you. If this is so, you can initiate the saying of thank you while not taking the situation against him. Getting mad for not being appreciative will sometimes instill those good things done should be compensated always. The act of giving is not expecting something in return.

Raising a thankful child is not tough. It takes some patience and modeling to induce from the child the desired positive behavior of appreciation and the art of gratitude.

~~ I bought this bath lily for the kiddos to use while bathing and the response that we got while bathing them this evening was hilarious ~~

Issac was the first one to bathe and when he saw the bath lily, he was so reluctant to let us bathe him with it like it was some kind of monster that's gonna eat him *huge laughs*

Elyssa was the second one to bathe and the moment that Daddy raised the bath lily about to start scrubbing her back, her natural reflex was to duck as if Daddy is gonna hit her with the bath lily *giggles*

Evangeline was the last to bathe and she had already saw Daddy bathing Elyssa with the bath lily so she know what is gonna happen but she still managed to make me laugh out loud when she exclaim the following ..

"Is this a mop" (referring to the bath lily)

This afternoon after we came home after our usual Sunday marketing (when my mum would be here to babysit), Elyssa told me that her ear hurt and when I checked to see what happen .. this was what I saw ..

How To Keep My Kiddos Occupied

A very good way to keep my kiddos occupied is to turn on the laptop and go to You Tube .. its got lots of videos that are so useful to keep my kiddos entertained while I get about with my chores .. yup .. the kiddos have mastered the skills of clicking on the videos which they want to see by themselves ..

This afternoon, they are having a dog theme video sessions *laughs* after Evangeline settled down after this ..

This afternoon, I showed them this video at their request ..

Halfway through the video, Evangeline made an announcement: "My eyes are very wet" and before any of us can react, she burst into tears ..

Finally after about 7 days of rest .. this poor sick boy has recovered *hoo-ray* and the best thing is .. his smile is back and he is back to his usual cheeky fun loving self except that his voice is still hoarse ..

I went marketing today with Hubby and came home with a new toy for myself ..

Elyssa saw me taking out my new toy and requested to see what it was and the minute that I took it out from its packaging .. it became her new toy ..

Princesses love to play with my cosmetics (although I do not have a huge collection or do I use them on a regularly basis) they would be very happy whenever I put on make up for them especially during CNY ..
